“For all the engine downsizing we’ve seen over the years, a four-cylinder full-size truck has remained unexplored territory in the modern age—until now.”
That statement is perhaps the truest thing we’ve read thus far regarding the 2020 Chevrolet 1500. Folks wondered if making a 5,000-pound beast a four-cylinder made sense. Well, if it didn’t before, it does now.
The heart of this Chevy, a.k.a. the powertrain is just one of its admirable traits. A practical bed and interior aesthetic and function prove that truck and sophistication belong in the same sentence. Of course, we know those pros aren’t usually at the top of a Silverado’s best-selling features.
Consider acceleration, shifting gears, and towing capability as top credentials and you’ve hit the jack of all trades.
It’s compelling engine generates roughly 310 horsepower and 248 lb-ft. Though it’s no show-stopping statement, this truck’s hustle rests in its torque—powering 5,022-pound hunk of metal to 60 mph in 7.1 seconds.

But more on that later. Let’s discuss design. We don’t wanna give away too much detail as we think you really just need to see this truck for yourself. The architecture paved way for the designers to expand the cabin, add room to the bed, inevitably leading to more comfort all around. Seriously, if trucks had pockets, the Silverado’s pockets have pockets. So. Much. Storage. Space. And not only that, but it’s a smooth ride. Yes, it’s quiet, so if you’re all about the rumble, keep swiping left until you reach 1995. Just kidding. But seriously…
The 2020 Chevy is doing something right with its technology too. With highly-functional adaptive cruise control, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto, Chevy is obviously doing its part to stay relevant and essential. Additionally, advanced safety features are available if buyers are willing to shell out a few (ok, 11) more benny’s. Chevy charges $1,095 for a safety package that includes forward collision alert, automatic emergency braking, front pedestrian braking and automatic high beam functionality. Those are essential features and maybe one day, GM will make them standard. The truck’s standard safety features include rear cross-traffic alert and blind zone alert.
Don’t sleep on this one, folks. The 2020 Silverado 1500 is Chevy’s most advanced yet. We leave you with a quote from road test editor, Chris Walton:
