Ford Motor Company has announced a recall affecting nearly 243,000 Maverick pickup trucks from model years 2022 through 2024. The issue? A software glitch in the Body Control Module (BCM) that can cause the taillights to stop working—potentially reducing visibility and increasing the risk of a crash.

What’s Causing the Recall?

The recall is tied to a software error that can mistakenly detect too much current in the taillight circuit. When this happens, the system shuts off the taillights entirely. While the brake lights, turn signals, and headlights remain functional, this issue makes nighttime driving more dangerous.

Ford will resolve the issue by performing a free software update. Notification letters are scheduled to be mailed starting May 20, 2025.
